This picture was taken by a KTBS helicopter flying over LakeConroe!

(For those of you who are not local, LakeConroe is in Conroe, TX - just

north of Houston & south of Tyler)

That has to be a HUGE gator! There's a whole deer in its mouth!

Are you ready to go skiing on LakeConroe?!

If you ski at the west end of the lake -- try not to fall!

Duhhh... Saint George!! Your right!! Your right!

This alligator was found between Athens and Palestine, Texas near a house. How would you like to meet this fella in the dark? Never let it be said that we don't grow them big in Texas.

Game wardens were forced to shoot the alligator- guess he wouldn't cooperate...

Anita and Charlie Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night.

Their neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the waterway that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations. "I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said. Friday they realized the stories were, if anything, understated. Texas Parksand Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast.

Joe Goff, 6'5" tall, a game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, walks past a 23-foot, 1-inch alligator that he shot and killed in their back yard.

According to information in a 2004 U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Press Release:
The photographs of this deer-eating alligator were taken from the air by Terri Jenkins, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service District Fire Management Officer. She was preparing to ignite a prescribed fire at Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge, about 40 miles south of Savannah, Georgia, on March 4, 2004.

Jenkins took the photographs from a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service helicopter used for igniting controlled fires. She estimates that the alligator was at least 12 or 13 feet long.

It is not uncommon for alligators to prey on large animals such as deer. Alligators submerge large prey until it drowns. They may carry the carcass around with them or guard it for several days until the meat becomes rotten enough to be easily eaten.
And on the second picture...

Seems like they change it up depending on where you live to embelish the story.

Alligator are quite common here on Lake Conroe, but most are less than 6feet long. All of the big gators are on the N side of the lake up in the National Forest.

We would see them all the time at the Sheldon Resevoir. They would generally be shy but at night you could spot them with a spotlight. As big as I've seen there was about3-4 foot. Still that looks mighty big when your in a 2 man jon boat. lol
