Urban (kinda) Mini-biking, Saturday, 2PM Till Dark

Saturday, Brickhouse Gully, gonna be there from 2 until dark. This place is 290 at 610 loop, about 5 miles north of PP1 for all you posers, well within BW8 and the city limits. We'll be riding some bayous, concrete embankments, but mostly twisty technical tight off road dirt bike trails. There is no cop drama at this place, it's totally secluded, no one ever bothers us.

The trail network is small, but has 9 or 10 loops that take maybe 15 mins to ride all of them. There are good elevation changes, jumps, banked corners, etc... On a 80 - 150 cc bike it is all 2nd to 3rd gear, under 25 mph, but fun as . I was out 3 weeks ago and the trails were being well maintained by someone. Here's an old pic from before the trails were getting regular use

TCJester019

Meet at the far end of the parking lot at 3416 West 34th Street. Park at the C-store and go in, buy something to drink, tell em you'll be there a while riding bikes in the bayou. Come anytime, I'll have my phone and will meet you at the c-store. There is parking for lots of trucks.

dataLtgX e3f8ctI3U5dJtbt7EJ1ZfRneYmerOpqL849HnO21nfXFDcGPOOXP3H4XZyG6SUxKVeEAlR5oRItEjArbXCO6 T4VlSjVLHQMVTq7ja3rSqxbp3jLyLfeUrjlmzuEj9JNKTKd2TOtqJC6g

Trails are suitable for any small to medium size 4 stroke trail bike, 50cc to 250cc. My son's CRF150F is an ideal scoot, but you need skill not motor at this spot.

41355 1532696271875 1068831348 1580379 1284463 n

50's, XR70's, 80's, 100's work great there too, street tires are fine for 80% of the riding.

We just drop into the concrete bayou from the back of the c-store....

TCJester004

Play on the concrete for a while, you can ride to downtown if ya want.

TCJester010

we ride a 1/4 mile west under the train tracks, and up into the trails...

TCJester013

It's about 50 - 75 acres, with about 1/2 of it developed into trails, the other half just needs a little work.

gully

And this is kinda what you get, on an xr80, with one hand:

I think those are the mtb trails. If so, I am sure the mtb riders maintain those trails.

It kinda comes and goes. Some years, they have 4 wheelers all over em, other years, it's the trials riders. I haven't seen a mountain biker out there in my last 4-5 visits, and I haven't seen any mtn bike tracks, but mebbe so.....

I've rocked that place on my Zuma 50cc, it's not bad.

12" street tires would be great for the bayou and concrete, and probably fine for 75% of the trails. There are a few really sandy spots you'd get to know quickly, but some of the trails are hard packed like a BMX track. Kinda depends on rainfall. Last time I was there we were going on 2 months of drought so it was kinda dusty and soft.

If your bike won't work, just borrow one of my 150's.

I found video from 2006 and 2007 of me riding both my TMGP motard with 12's and another mini motard bike I later sold to JCat we called "do-it" with 10" fat cruiser tires. I had fun on both out there.

Vivid,

Dunno about cops, never had an issue, they'd have to walk a half mile or so to come find us, so that's not very likely. My guess is they would ask you to leave. There aren't any no trespass signs and on the city platt the land where the trails are is owned by the city of houston water abatement district or something similar. It is just flood land, and you can't sue your municipality for your own stupid actions, so no one really cares. I guess they might get mad if they caught you riding up and down the bayou, but unless they are on a 4 wheeler, you could just putt putt away and into the woods. If you ride in open sight of the bayou the joggers would see you and I guess could lodge a complaint, but back in the trees no one can see ya.

I think our group size, 6-10, won't draw much attention.

See you after the ceremony. If the XR is too big, just ride one of our bikes.
