talked to my brothers friend at his wedding, who is a Dallas Detective (PD). He said they have actual video footage of a theft taking place where a guy at a parking garage parked his truck in front of his bike. Detective said the thieves actually dropped his transmission so they could roll the truck back to steal the bike, which they succeeded in doing.

Even considering the source it is hard for me to believe.

Ya that's a crock. Once the drive shaft is removed it's good to go. Even then it'd be easier just to pick the bike up.

If you want a bit more of a deterrent you could go buy a U-Lock from Walmart and fit it through your rotor, its maybe $15 and and will help stop someone from cutting the chain and simply rolling the bike away.

I finally decided on getting the biggest baddest chain I can buy with a matching lock. Gonna loop the chain through the frame of the back to the frame of the truck. Then I'm gonna pray I'll consider that U lock as well.

Get a zexna disk alarm and a good cable chain lock and a cover. I SAY as many obstacles as u can put in front of them it that's the route your gonna go. Chain the front back zexna disc alarm it then chain the frame to the tires and tire to tire and park it far away from where they can just pick up and throw in a truck. Once they see fort knox on the bike they might think otherwise.

there is a video floating around where thieves can still get through a big chain alot faster than a big cable.

best to just get an undesirable bike (or make it look it)

I lived in Greenspoint in a crappy apartment complex for 3 years, on greens road. my bike sat outside, uncovered, and (at the time) was very shiny and new looking.

nobody touched it.

ever.

This is what I went with. Comments? It is made of titanium boron reinforced steel (including the lock, which came with it). Don't want to even say what I paid for it. Chain has a nine out of ten security rating.

Grim, I dunno where you stay, but if your up to moving, there's a small apartment complex in Deer park, real cheap and nice, extremely quiet, you can chain your to the stair case, or roll it in the front door, just gimme a PM and I'll send you details.

That should deter most would be thieves. It won't be easy getting through that thing without someone noticing.

Do you have any awnings or anything there? So you can chain it to a post or something when you take your truck?

I work in the Apt industry... get a copy of your lease & look it over. I doubt you'll find anything in writing that says you cant park your bike in the apt. If she sends you a letter or something saying such... tell them it wasn't in the lease that YOU signed.(make sure of course). Apts are hurting for residents these days & i doubt they would evict you on something other than non-payment of rent.

I'd park that bike in my living room too. Nor would i stop a resident from doing so. If they end up messing up the carpet... thats what a deposit is for, or they get charged for repairs.

Good Luck.

Issue is the bike has gas in it, and the fire marshal has an issue with it being withina certain distance of the actual living area. I kept mine in the patio area that had a 6' privacy fence. and went round and round with managment about it. Till my catalyst coverter was stolen off my toyota behind my bedroom window at 3pm on sunday.. Then I told them to shove it the bike was locked up onthe patio since then till I moved to Dallas. Now its in a garage.
