Yes. My mechanic lives only two miles away. He has a no-mar tire thingy that fits on the back of his truck. I have never tried to buy tires from a local store - have always ordered them. I cannot answer this question.

But I don't wanna. I don't like driving downtown. I have to sit in traffic and I have to park far away. My bike is my best buddeh. Besides, my car was broken into last week at school.

I have not had good fortune with them. The few times I tried to buy something from them, they didn't have it in stock. I just quit trying.

Nope. I live FAR north on 59. It takes me 40 minutes to get to 1960 @45 - then I still have to travel down 1960. It's NOT ten minutes. I have been there MANY times.

But that's really nice of you to offer to take my tire. I won't be taking it off tonight, though, and I won't have free time until Sunday. Perhaps next week... And that's also why it's easier to order it. It'll be here Wednesday, Ken will put it on Saturday.

It's best not to ride on a completely worn-down tire. It may still have some grip left but the thinner the tread is the easier it is to get punctured by road debris that you are likely to run over at speed.

I think junk/poor/worn out/under-inflated tires are the number one killer.

but driving on a bald tire is just plain......................

I'd rather seeing you complain about having to sit in traffic and park too far away with the car than see another rebuild thread.

I'm driving until the tires are replaced. Thanks, guys, for the concern and 'FATHERLY' advice.

Good choice. Brakes are more likely to lock if they have less traction. Bald tires equals less traction.

I suppose this makes sense - if it's easier for the tire to slide than to roll, the brakes, even when applied normally, will stop the wheel completely. I'm sure that's what happened yesterday. Lesson learned.

I have a brand new BT016 sitting in the garage you can put on this weekend if you want. I'd offer the rear too but it's a 190.

I luff chew.

My rear tire is fine. Just needs to be used correctly. I hate to change it with so much tread left on the sides.
