How bald is TOO bald - no pics

My front wheel has pretty much had it. It's completely devoid of tread on either side of the center. It'll take a week or so to get new tires ordered and get them on. My rear wheel has plenty of wear - it's actually embarrassing because it has a wide, flat spot in the center and my chicken strips are about an inch + wide. I have only done a couple just-for-fun rides this year. All my wear is from commuting.

So? I noticed they were wearing down, but it's gotten to the point that they are bald now. How safe/dangerous is it riding on it?

Don't take chances Squoddy, just wait till you get new tires. Your leg needs some time off anyway.

Those two little rubber patches are the only thing keeping your off the pavement.

Tires are cheap. Crashes are expensive. I just bought a set of Pilot Powers from Motorcycle Superstore for less than $200 shipped.

It's not worth taking the chance, man. Get the new tires.

Is it a GSXR front tire? I don't remember if it's the same size I was running before the swap.

I WILL be buying new tires - not concerned about their price, but I commute daily, so I was just wondering how risky it REALLY is. I'm certainly not hard on the tires - it's just slow speed (<90 mph) commuting (35 miles one way).

I have about a week or two before I get them on.

didnt your front end just wash out on you, like... today?
i would recommend alternative transportation until you can get new tires. or find some decent race take off's i have had a couple of sets of take offs that lasted a good while.
patrick sold me one of his for $40 installed on the front, if i remember correctly. that tire lasted a long time.

Why would they take so long to get Brandi?

Yes. Shall I blame that on the tire and not on grabbing too much front brake? Because letting off the brake let the bike stand up... but it WOULD be convenient to blame it on the tire.

Again - price is not the issue. It's time. I have about 70 more miles I must ride this week.

Because I will order them - always have done. They will come in the mail next week, then sit in front of my garage until the weekend when my mechanic is off and can put them on.

I have classes, I tutor, I do research - most nights I get in after 5, some nights closer to 7. I haven't the time to 'just run' up to Motorcycles Unlimited. They are NOT close to me - about as far as my commute.

So, you're saying I should hold off on riding until it's replaced? It's just the front tire. I can drive my car, but I don't want to.

I've missed nearly the entire month of November so far at school. I can't afford to miss anymore days. I have to catch up as it is. I've been visiting UA and doing research at Stanford. Now I'm home and everyday that tire just gets more and more worn.
