Engine starting/idling problem for a 2006 ninja 500r

Hey guys and gals. I miss being in Houston, and only came back to get my bike and a few things. I got back and tried to fire up Sol's old 500r I bought a few months ago. Here's the problem I'm having.

I rigged it up to my car to jump, left the choke off, didn't give it any throttle, and it immediatly started up while blowing out smoke like a chimney. The smoke cleared out and it ran for about 30 seconds allowing me to give it some juice and it gave a good reaction. The engine sounded pretty loud like it had a hole in the exhaust, but I don't believe this isn't the issue or is causing a vacuum leak of any sort.

After the first fire up, the rpms dropped and it puttered out. After that I could only get it to fire up and die immediatly after pulling the choke and throttle back and forth. I took the tank off and fed the gas line a mixture of seafoam/gas and carb cleaner hoping it would clean the carb out, but after a good 2 hours of off and on play with it, it really didn't do much. It is still putting out puffs of smoke out the exhaust after running for the 1-2 second burst and then dying again.. but I am sure the smoke is because the caked up carbon combination with the choke and fuel mixture and not a broken ring or seal.

My guess is I am going to have to rebuild the carb, but I'm hoping that's all it will be. It was setting up for a while, and no telling how long is was in Sol's garage before purchased it. It's a good bike that took a beating before I got it, but considering it was less than a year old when it was wrecked, I can't see if having serious issues with the engine.

I was also hoping to come across someone with a ninja model that's had this experience.

No idea what the plugs look like yet. Smoke is white but towards the end it appeared tro come out misty. I'll remove remove plugs, carbs and petcock this weekend. I doubt I will have time to get it running but I would be glad to. I also think it's running rich because the smoke. I haven't taken the air filter out yet, but I'm expecting it to be wet.

Anyone do discount carb work? I was thinking of Patrick, but I can't afford to deliver the bike at this point. If someone is willing to come to my house I would be willing to fork out some $$. I'm mainly wanting see how it's done. If anyone's willing to do it, shoot me a price and maybe we can work something out.

Thought so too. Don't have a deep enough socket for it yet.

I'm going to research how to adjust the fuel/air intake. I'm pretty certain it's running high on fuel.

Wish me luck! And Thanks.

Got meh carbs cleaned for $75 and it purrs like a kitten. Also spark plugs looked like , and got them switched. Ran the bad gas empty then filled with clean fuel and it ran strong. I was impressed the difference. All together it costed me $120 to get it running nice. Next step it to streetfighter it out into a stunt bike. I'm feeling good about this project.
