Motorcycle Pet Peeves

One thing that annoys me about riding a motorcycle is when people want to see my helmet.

I don't mind people looking at my helmet, but they ALWAYS put their greasy fingers all over my visor. It's gotten to the point when people ask to see my helmet, I tell them not to touch the visor with their hands because it causes smudges, and then I can't see.

To the people that don't ride, it probably seems like I am just about a small thing. But that bugs me when I am riding home and my visor is blurry because someone couldn't keep their hands away from the visor.

Anything that annoys you in relationship to you riding a motorcycle?

Friend: "Hey man, when are you going to let me ride your motorcycle?"

Me: "Never..."

People who feel the need to tell me how dangerous motorcycles are, like I am going to say "oh my gosh I never knew they were dangerous, thanks for telling me I am going home and selling mine..." I guess I know how smokers feel now.

+1. This!

I tell people I have been riding for 20 years and they still say this. We all know the risks involved (except maybe a newbie).

having a squid tell me that a) helmets are for and b) 600's are for girls. i just laugh in their face right in front of their friends and call them out to the track so they can "teach me how to ride". they tend to shut up rather quickly.

I hate it when you park your motorcycle to pick something up in a store and then on the way out you find someone on your bike with it.

I hardly ever fight, but I believe for this I would make an exception.

Two things really annoy me.
1) How when someone finds out I ride a cycle they feel obliged to tell me how their best friend's boyfriend's cousin died riding a cycle.
2) cagers flicking their butts out of their cars.

You need to learn how to barter, make them work for the privilege of taking a photo on your bike.

+1 on the visor smudging.
a guy at work was manhandling my helmet. when i noticed this, i gave him the obligitory 'dude wtf leave my alone' and he slammed the visor closed by pressing down in the middle of the visor with his whole hand. the thing was practically dripping grease and finger prints when he put it down.

i hated- hold on, going advanced- HATED how my bike was treated when i lived in an apt in the woodlands. i swear someone peed on my bike there. i couldnt get the smell out for a long time. it was rare that i could get on my bike after a weekend and find out that my mirrors had been left alone. i eventually got a cover for it and that kinda helped. i'd still come out to find that the cover had been pulled up over the front or rear.
i did better than one of my neighbors though, who got the buffet treatment and had his ruckus stolen. from it's parking spot.

and lets not forget the douches that ride with the helmet strapped to the side of the bike. look, if your gonna ride with no lid, leave the at home. this isnt sweet 16, and you arent making any kind of fashion statement, except for how much of a queer you are.

the "duck feet" riders

seeing people ride with their elbows locked

and id like to add to the "i had a bike and it was such and such and such". i had a guy tell me once that he had a 2007 gsxr 1100 RR. i you not.

country boys that call our bikes "toys". my uncle tried that once on thanksgiving 2006. my bike was all of 11 days old and in front of my family he said i "should sell that toy and get a real bike". and, again in front of my family, i promptely threw the key at him and told him to take it for a spin. that was the end of that conversation. funny thing is, hes never ridden in his life.

dipshits that claim they went 200+ mph

ill post more as i think of them...
