Replaced the R1...with a Harley (I know...I know)

I don't expect this group to respond to favorably to the switch from an R1 to a Harley Davidson...but its just my preferred ride. The speed thing just isn't for me. I prefer to cruise, have my girl on the back, and just take it slow.

So...last week I sold the R1 and this weekend I found my new ride...Harley Davidson FXDWG (aka: Wide Glide). Wow...what a difference. I really feel SO much more comfortable on this Harley than I ever would have on that R1.

I'm sure many will be skeptical...but those ape hanger bars really are comfortable. I love it. I'm sure some of you will blow by me at 100 mph...but dang if I won't still have a smile on my face and my chin in the wind!!
You wouldn't believe this bike was almost 13 years old if you saw it in person. It's freaking showroom clean w/ out a single spot or scratch on it.

I also love my Harley. What I tell people is that the Harley is fun at legal speeds while a sport bike isn't fun until it hits 80 mph.

, 13 years? That's nice. Was it odd getting used to the new riding position?

No - because to me this is not a new riding position. The R1 was the "new" riding position. I've owned Harleys for over 10 years. The R1 was my 1st sport bike. So actually it felt "right" to get back to my comfortable riding position again.

I dont know why people keep saying this....it is actually more comfortable then drag bars or sportbike bars (Except for like the stupid 24'' apes) But normal shoulder high Apes feel just like Driving your truck/Car. Think about it, your shoulders are totally use to having your arms out even or a little above your shoulders.

And to think, I was supposed to be going out to eat....

That wasnt nice. I need to go watch the Joe Theisman leg breaking video in order to get my appetite back.

Congrats. If that's what you are into, be happy with it.

happy for you. but i miss the sportbike.

I rode a fatboy all weekend during the lonestar rally and I have never felt so out of place! I mean it was great but, the thing won't stop, I drag ped every corner, and it just won't go!

I can't believe you went directly from cruisers to an R1. Midlife crisis maybe?
