is anyone spending Thanksgiving alone? V.2010

THE GIG

this is a tradition the war dept and i started back in 2008. last year we went through problems and were separated but are now back together. we decided to rekindle this tradition and invite people over to our home who are spending the holiday alone for whatever reason there may be. we would love nothing more than to meet new people, have a good time, get fat and show them that humanity is not lost. heres the thread from two years ago to give you an idea:

http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=71550

and the pics:
http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...t=thanksgiving

THE DETAILS

we will be providing a baked turkey, smoked turkey, smoked ham and my famous 7-layer dip. we ask those that are coming bring traditional sides and/or deserts like green bean casserole, broccoli and cheese casserole, stuffing, pies, mashed potatoes...you get the idea. and also if anyone wants to bring paper plates, plastic utensils and sodas that would help. whats left off the list we will cover. for me, turkey day was about sharing/providing with friends and family, so lets make this one as good if not better than the first. our home is very kid friendly and your kiddos are more than welcome as we have four kids of our own and they would love nothing more than to make new friends as well, and they have plenty of stuff to show off!

THE DATE

the war dept and i both have to work on thanksgiving day, so the date is set for the monday before, which will be Nov. 22, 3pm. we do realize a lot of people have to work still and dont get holiday until after that day but its the best we can do this year. and of course, OG peeps are welcome as well! so put your name on the list, what you plan to bring, and prepare yourself for a fantastic holiday!

1. Azylum-smoked turkey, baked turkey, smoked ham, 7-layer dip
2. Mellow moon-better make some sammiches if she knows whats good for her

Mike,
If you don't get any takers check this out:
Each year, the Air Force at Lackland and the Army at Fort Sam conduct Operation Mission Thanksgiving, enabling trainees who won't be able to go home for the holiday to spend time in a local home with a family. The program is optional on the airmen and soldier's part, and they're given to host families by random pairing.

I've done this a few times in years past.

That is really cool of you 'zylum. I know I don't actually know you, but I didn't expect generosity like this based upon your online personality.

What time will this be? Don't think I'll actually be able to go, but just in case...

If he's not careful, my hostage may find himself alone on Thanksgiving...

I am going to do my very very best to talk him into coming on Monday! Great idea, Azylum.

Also, I'm happy to hear you and the War Department have made up.

Okay- I'm going to take charge and tell you to bring the green bean casserole, or yams. They're a Thanksgiving staple. =)
