dk2 Busa......Lives Again

Ok, well I guess I'll start this with the problem. If you think you can just add fuel through your power commander to spray nitrous and have your motor last. I'm here to tell you, you can't. Especially if you don't have it mapped properly and have no idea what A/F is doing. The night that it caught on fire half way down the track I knew something was wrong. I just didn't know what. This is what it did...... Sent a valve through the piston and scarred the head. Oil and water were shooting out the exhaust.

The route I decided to take was to have a motor bike built. (with just a lil bit of spray)

Here we go,
I took the motor to Gooch to have built.
We sent a gen 1 block to Mellenium to get bored 3mm
Wiesco 84mm pistons
Falicon Knife rods
Webb cams 378in. 378 ex.
Adjustable cam sprockets
Carpenter Head with #60 springs
2" oil pan
Tsukigi Sidewinder
Thin head gasket
ARP studs

I think that's it on the motor. Since I had all this being done I thought I'd better get a clutch

Hays Convertable Clutch with with KLR clutch cover

Also got a chromoly arm 10-16
Will have it set at 70" We will see if it hooks. It might not.
Along with that I had to get a +12 over tail.
Tail and swingarm are not on yet. Tail will be painted next week.

So I said just a little spray, I have nitrous nozzles tapped into the head with the shower heads set up for wet system. Do not have fuel pump in yet so I have dry shot set at 30hp for now. That is still going through the airbox.

Cams need to be adjusted a little more so I couldn't get it dynoed today. That will be resolved Monday.

Once that is taken care of I will take it to get tuned through the ECU.
(Tejas Motorsports)
I will have two maps on flash drive. One for motor and one for spray.

Now we have a 1441cc busa that is going to scare the sh*t out me. (That was the plan)

Don't ask me why I did all this. All I know is that once I started taking it to the track, I was hooked. WARNING!!!!! OBSESSIONS CAN BE VERY EXPENSIVE.

Grand Total.........A LOT OF MULAH!!!!

Will post more pics and info when it comes.........

1st two pics are the damage. Next three are after build. Sorry, that's all I got.

I was sending 40% more fuel on the last three bars. Shootin' craps the whole time.

Crazy !! Did you maybe forget to mention the Carpenter head? You just did my dream build. I'm jealous.

You need to look into running the Texas Mile now. You will easily make it into the 200 club.

I think I'll do that. I really need one of those shirts that read 200+. That might open up a whole new can o worms.
(I mentioned the head in the original post)

. You sure did mention it.
If you safety wire the bike it should be good to go. You should be near the top of the N/A class with Carl. I got to get one of those shirts and be on the list. There are a few on this site that are on that list.

Its a shame you don't have HP numbers to post. I was waiting for the call yesterday. I though about calling ya about 9 to see what it made.

Yea, I went to put it on the dyno. When Billy put it on he could tell something was off. It wouldn't make any power. So he did a compression test and it was only at 200psi. The problem is the cam sprockets. They need to be adjusted. Probably off a tooth. George knows about it and will take care of it on Monday. He is in Valdosta GA at the races. This kind of stuff happens I guess. Will be back on dyno Wednesday.

I'd like to let members on here know, if anyone decides to start drag racing there bikes, there are plenty of members here more than happy to help you. I've been riding a long time, but didn't start drag racing until Jan of this year. As soon as I started guys from this forum helped me out a lot. My knowledge was (and still is) very minimal when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Bluewave, gixxre750, joebusa, (hooked me with plastics when mine flew off) yeojbl, These guys have bared with my ignorance and really helped me learn as I go. Thanks.
Now I am really going to be picking your brains.

I just wanted to throw this in there. People here really help each other. If I can do anything for ya, let me know.........

I'm not really sure how I have helped. I'm just happy to see more guys from here interested in drag racing. I think most who give it a chance and realize the challenge involved will be hooked. It really helps to have a few bucks too. You will be online like a crack head buying . I still suck and all the parts in the world don't help me. It is fun though.

He was on the 50. You could tell we hadn't done that before. But it worked!

The 50 was having issues that day too. Bad gas was keeping it from running smooth.
