MJMotoGear

Has anyone ever used these tire warmers? I'm thinking about getting them for the price, I'm just a track day rider. Any input? They are $169 for single temp, and they also have some for 220 that have a digital read out. To who haven't heard or seen them MJMotoGear.com.

No, but if you're just getting started that is a great price.

One thing to consider is that some brands of tire warmers may create hot spots or may even fail to the point of ruining the tire.

Before I would look at purchasing that brand, I would see if you could get some used Chicken Hawks or similar brand of widely used warmer. Can be done for about the same price as those are new.

If you haven't already, look at Tyr-Sox; they're way less expensive and work very well as long as you take care of them. I used them for years before I bought my Suzukas.

NP

They may not fail, but there are some proven brands out there that I would definitely consider first. Check the cmra bbs, wera forum, or cruise the classifieds here or even craigs list. I can put a post on the cmra bbs asking if anyone has some used warmers for sale if you like.
Take a lok at the Tyr Sox though; they aren't as popular any more, but they work very well and can be had cheap.

They may be good, but I've never heard of them. Lockhart has, in the past, bought brand "X" in quantity and relabled them as "LP" products. That may be the case with these or they may be constructing their own product, I don't know.

Sounds like you'd be well-served by spending some time with one of the vendors here on MH like Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited, John at South Central Race Center, or Alan at Whoopie's Cycles. All of those dudes know the products they carry very well.

As for me, Suzuka, Chickehawk, and Tyr Sox are the only brands I have owned and can stand by their performance.
