For oil changes and some gear I will swing through Cycle Gear. I have found the experience to be very dependent on the clerk providing the service. Sometimes they are good, other times...well. Plus they will (usually?) match their online promotions in store (ask them first to be sure).

For any major purchases or if I want good stuff and intel I still go to Motorcycles Unlimited. I stopped shopping online for moto a while ago. Motorcycles Unlimited is just rather out of the way for me.

That why I "was" in retail business - I shut it down after 9 years of just being tired of making everyone else's pocketbook happy.

You don't go into Kroger and ask for a discount or a deal. You don't go to a restaurant and try to negotiate a meal. You either pay what they are asking or go somewhere else. Motorcycle riders on the other hand want to go into every shop and ask for a discount - or try to negotiate a price based on what they saw at another shop or the internet...

end of rant - please don't flame me

We've owned a printing/sign business for the last 15 years, and everyone wants everything for free. I have never haggled with anyone over anything, although I will shop for a better deal, and if I find it I won't pressure another business to match it, I'll just get it where the better deal is

I really like that they are open on Sunday's. I can't get to shops during the week and sometimes Saturday is difficult too. Most often it seems like Sunday is the day I can go. I'd really like to find a place with more gear to check out though. I don't care if I have to travel either.

Honest question for you and other people running a small business. Would you rather that customers just go somewhere else cheaper or would you prefer that they at least ask if you can match it?

The reason I ask is I bought some tires from cyclegear when they had a killer sale on dunlop Q2s, and took them to 2 wheel toys to get mounted (on the bike which cyclegear doesn't do). The guys at 2 Wheel Toyz asked that next time I contact them to see whether they could match/beat it.

My 1st experience with CG, the employee I was dealing with stayed open 1 1/2 hours past there closing time to help me with the purchase of my 1st gear (helmet, jacket, boots, gloves, jeans, etc.) I really appreciated it then and still do today, sponsor or no sponsor I will only deal with that 1 employee though because he takes care of my purchases - not pricing necessarily, but ordering things when I am out of town over the phone and stuff like that.

I hope they return as a sponsor though...it was cool as having that Bike Night @ CG with all the MH people coming out

lol, all the theories, its amazing.

Its not always a long-term thing, some sign up for temporary promotion, etc.etc.

They accomplished what they came here for, and may be returning in the future and we welcome them back!

Maybe they temporarily sponsored MH so they could advertise their Bike Nights?
