Neither one of those tactics will gain you much more than a ticket.

As far as it doesn't harm anyone else but the officer, you're incorrect.
Not everyone likes to hear loud pipes, especially residents who don't ride.
It's no different than if your neighbor decided to blast his radio at 2 a.m., it irritates people. Those people pick up the phone and call in complaints, those complaints turn into referendums and then laws, and guess what, there's more of them than there is of us.

That said, if you REALLY want to do something to affect change other than posture on the internet, get involved with several of the local and state organizations that are working to help shape / influence the law.
At this point, unless there's some significant pressure brought to bear from the motorcyclists side of things, the sale of aftermarket exhausts will become illegal altogether.

Here's a good starting point:

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/houstonnoiseordinance/
so this means, no more aftermarket pipes? heathers? slip ons? etc?

Ormand, so you're advocating the murder of police officers?
Interesting......

Possibly, very possibly.

While I don't believe he should lose his job simply based on the little info posted on the forum, I do believe there are more serious laws, such as drunk driving, he could spend his energy on.

Who is issuing your speeding tickets? (link)

As far as bikes go, street riders are a relatively small group that the general public has little concern for so this type of story wouldn't pull in many viewers, but it wouldn't hurt to email your local favorite TV newsroom.

If you didn't have a loud aftermarket exhaust pipe on your bike, you wouldn't have a problem. He's not causing the problem, you are...

Having said that, I don't agree with how he behaves or how he spends his time. He could be out protecting and serving like the slogan says, but catching criminals doesn't generate revenue.

Sorry - i have no problem seeing the humor in what he said. Obviously it was in jest. I can even hear The Governator speaking in my mind...

Get over yourself man - it is OK to joke about it. Actively ACTING on it is a different story...(in most cases)

I disagree - it was obviously humor. Anyone who couldnt see that has a problem. Dark humor, true, but still humor. Including the Terminator clip made it even more obviously not serious.

Why is he still writing tickets after 32-years?

He must be the bottom of the LEO barrel if he's still patrolling streets and write citations after that many years...

Getting your hand slapped by the 5th Circuit Court and then being stupid enough to sue your boss multiple times tends to rather limit your ability to advance in the law enforcement community.

Seriously, what would Jesus ride?
Does the Lord Almighty have a problem with loud pipes?
Even if he does, how does Officer Holtsclaw know?
Did the Lord speak to him and command him to harrass riders in His name?

I don't know for sure, but I think not.

So he's taking out his anger and lack of progression through the system out on society, nice! And people wonder where the bad apples in the LEO system come from that bully civilians...

Why aren't fellow officers outing the guy and his practices? Sounds like he's one bad traffic stop away from the big house...

Hm...I'm thinking he'd have more than one bike, but considering how he likes to get around, I'm pretty sure it would be a cruiser or a sport tourer.

Doubt it - "Proclaim a joyful noise unto the Lord" and all that. Very few things sound as good as pipe music...

The same way he knows that your pipes are illegal and that you're a narcissistic hedonist with no respect for authority.
