Defense fund thread

As most of you are aware, I had a run-in with our favorite member of HPD on Saturday and got to spend a night as a guest of the city.

I will of course be fighting the criminal charges, but I would not object to anyone wanting to send donations to help defray those costs to my paypal account at eric.sorrentino@gmail.com.

Thanks

Lets try to keep this thread clear of any discussions about the issue at hand? We can keep those in the other thread.

No offense but I won't be supporting the fund either. The way you speak on hre leads me to believe you provoked Holtsclaw into arresting you. Plenty of others have apparently ben ticketed by this guy, yet they haven't been arrested. I hope you fight it and win, but I think you could have saved your case for the jury and not tried to reason with the officer on the streets, that never works. Good luck.

100f, you clearly haven't been following this much. He is a member here, but refuses to talk, does not participate in the community, seeks only to harm members on Motohouston and takes malicious pleasure in the ignorant pursuit of his religious crusade against ..... "exhaust systems".

and to be quite frank, you sound like a .

OK, the guy is a member just so he could come on here and talk on his thread. Someone on here let him in on the discussions about him.

Anyway, this cop is overstepping his boundaries in a major way. I, for one, would like to see someone take this guy on and fight him in court. And with all the other people starting to take action against him, I want to see this unfold because who knows who he could over next.

I like and back the police, honest police. Despise ones who abuse their power, they, to me, are the lowest form of life.

If you dont want to help, then dont. A lot of people wont. The guy doesnt need to be badmouthed by other members here when he is one of the only people that has the to question this .

I have a suggestion: We should work to re-instate statutory protection of the right to resist unlawful arrest in the 38 states that presently do not recognize that ancient and indispensable Common Law right.

Unless a police officer is enforcing a legitimate warrant, or has unassailable probable cause to believe that an individual has committed a felony, he has no business attempting to arrest anybody.

Questioning a cop about a ticket, no matter what tone may be used, should not qualify as resisting arrest. A some point, a line must be drawn.

I'll donate. This particular tax-feeder should be removed from the doll. Good luck, Honors.

I agree, maybe this case can be a stepping stone to a more pressing issue such as that.

Grey area IMO, how do you define what "tone" becomes threatening. I too would like to see a better way to fight illegitimate arrests. I don't typically make it public but I myself have been arrested for something I absolutely should not have been charged with (Class A Misdemeanor). I got it dropped, but did it cost me a lot of money? Of course.

Well, I am not a Houston resident and I have nothing to immediately gain in this matter. But this cop is arrogantly abusing the little power he has in this world. Makes him feel like a big man at the expense of anyone with a bike.

I like that he didnt just lie down and take it. This cops is so used to bullying people that when someone questions him, he starts arresting. That is despicable.

I am behind you man. Someone finally stands up to him and people come out against him? Pretty up.

One certainly shouldn't have to have been imprisoned to be well versed on their personal rights
