Share Del.icio.usDiggTwitterYahoo! BuzzFacebookStumbleUponEmail Close [X]A motorcyclist died after he lost control of his motorcycle and plunged from an overpass on Interstate 10 downtown last weekend.

The single-vehicle crashed occurred at 800 East Freeway about 9 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Police said the man, who has not been identified, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Police said the man was driving a black Yamaha motorcycle westbound on the freeway at a high-rate of speed when he apparently lost control, slammed into a concrete barrier and then fell from the overpass and landed in a parking lot below the freeway.

RIP

This overpass thing seems to be turning into a regular occurance. Is it the on/off ramps? I know I have a habbit of abusing them sometimes, they're a tempting sweeper after riding a straight line down the highway, but we need to beware the possibility of being launched over the side

I know right? What's going on these days? I mean how fast are these guys going on these ramps/interchanges? It's a shame.

But rip nevertheless.

I used to take these overpasses at a good clip, but then one day stopped and really paid attention to how high they are.

Take a minute to look over the sides and think of what it's gonna feel like if you lose control and take that plunge.

that.

RIP to the rider, hope he didn't leave behind kids and a wife that depended on him.

That sounds like what nearly happened to me a few months ago. I just google mapped 800 East Freeway and it's I-10 exiting 59 (presumably). RIP

Same here. I was in the passenger seat of my friend's truck and I took a good look at the roofs of some 4 story buildings and realized that its a of a long way down.

Plus no matter how good you can hit them sweepers, too much can go wrong. A animal running in front of you, oil spot, debris, stopped car..... etc. List goes on and on. I take them suckers slow.

This happened right by UH-D. A friend of mine was there that day and saw the man and the bike. She posted it on her facebook.

It's near the exit to 59.

He landed in the parking lot right next to the school - at the meters.

A guy went off one of these here in Austin Nd hit a green sign on the way down. Split him in half and landed on the freeway. I think a leg was stuck on the sign. I was talking to one of the cops that responded, he is a customer of mine, and he said it was gnarly. Especially since the guy didnt die right away.

AINT WORTH IT!
