idiot in truck kills biker on katy fwy feeder

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...n/7271938.html
Quote:
A man was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a delivery truck in west Houston Saturday evening, authorities said.

Investigators say that around 7:21 p.m., the driver of a furniture delivery truck was traveling west on the service road of the 14700 block of the Katy Freeway when he made a U-turn at Texas 6.

The driver then attempted to make an immediate right onto Grasshopper Lane from the middle lane of traffic, HPD vehicular crimes division Sgt. N. Perry said.

A motorcyclist traveling behind the truck in the far right lane then crashed into the vehicle, Perry said.

The motorcyclist was taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital-The Texas Medical Center, where he later died.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The motorcyclist’s identity is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. No further information is immediately available and the case is under investigation.

rip.
...same thing happened with my brother-in-law 2 years ago.....he was driving a truck with an 18' flatbed trailer...turning right from the center lane into a narrow driveway. motorcyclist was intoxicated, and going way too fast to react in time.. (cruiser style/no helmet)

sad for both families, major mindfnck to know you accidentally killed someone.

I take this road all the time. That AREA is a mindfuck.
I turn left under the freeway to head east on the feeder and the cars coming from the u-turn pull out into traffic all the time.
Then they want to cut clear across, slam their brakes and turn right into the businesses there.
Then up ahead all the cars are pulling out the BP buildings then try to cut into the freeway entrance ramp.

Sorry to hear about the rider, I know it coulda been me.

This was a really good friend of ours in our v-max group. we just returned from the hill country last weekend.
Not sure by reading what the chron posted, about how it could be anything others than the trucks fault but i guess there are always people that has to give threir 2 cents worth even if it's negative.
Here are some pics of Brian Kohn

Sorry to hear about your friend.
Don't take what anyone has speculated too seriously. This board has seen many accidents where the rider was speeding thereby cutting down both his and the driver's accident avoidance reaction time.

FYI: Your link directs to Yahoo login, then requests you become a friend of your group to see the pics.

OK would not let me edit i guess.
The hospital started calling contacts via his cell. His neighbor was called due to alphabetical listing and informed. It finally made it to those needed a couple hours later.
On my phone i have my wife listed under her name and also under ICE (in case of emergency).
I also do not allow my phone to "lock" as that would defeat the purpose in said emergency.
I know this discussion has been going on for years and i am sure that mister negative will say that it is useless or something but it could not hurt, correct?
