I am starting my search for a 250 to track.

It just looks too fun not to.

it really is stupid fun. we just did the 1hr endurance on saturday. you can't help but smile when you get off the bike. get a bike, have a few buddies get their race license, then endurance race it. road trips, racing, adventure. you can't beat it.

How would you compare the 250ex's to the RS125's?

250's are slow, but the newer ones, once race prepped, handle pretty well.

Best way to figure out if you like the 250's is to go to a track day and have Rent My Ninja.com provide you with a bike. Cost is $175 and includes a tank of gas, tires, bike, etc... and insurance so you only are liable for the first $500 if you really screw it up.

The GU / Fast Line invitational race at GSS was my first time to race a 250. I got my lap times down from 1:18's to 1:08's by the end of it.

The fastest guys ran 1:05's, which is pretty respecatble for a track day regular of a supersport 600 or 1000.

And in the pics, the fast bike was #7, who won first overall, and we were #99, in like 6th or 7th. 6 hours is a long race, even with 4 other teammates.

Kraze Kris, fastest guy that day I think
Racing an EX250 - bike, mods and entry fees

But my 14 year old son was on my team, and he dropped from 1:20's to 1:12's during his two stints, and it was the first big bike race ever for him

Low maintenance, easy on DOT tires, not as twitchy, slow, heavy, uses 87 gas, crashes well, great platform to learn lines and overall racing skills. In the hands of an expert, maybe has 50% of the potential of a RS125. In CMRA the RS125's with 85cc engines whoop the EX250's.

that 6hr race was a blast.

if you race superstock E class (ESS), in the CMRA, its all 250's. its a pretty fun class. i'm really enjoying racing a small bike =)

Wish I could do this but I have never paid to ride or race except for TMGP, I had the most fun ever doing the 6Hour invitational at GSS.
I barley get by doing TMGP.
If you ever need another rider LMK the cost to ride with you.
