Kill Switch?

How many people here use their kill switch? When I first got my bike I let one of my experienced friends who had track bikes and several of his own ride my bike. When he got on my bike it didn't start. I told him the kill switch was off. He told me never use the kill switch. We used it in the class when I took it but since then I've just used my kick stand to shut the motor off.

I don't use the kill switch or the kick stand. I actually park the bike, put it in neutral, then turn the key off. I got used to doing it that way, so I would always remember to turn the key off!

*you only have to drain your battery once to learn this lesson.

Funny you should say that cause one night I somehow didn't notice that I left the key turned on in my garage and drained the battery! Hahaha never thought about doing what you do though.

It took some time to get used to, I admit, but it's important to maintain a healthy battery life.

i shut down with the key to make sure I take the key with me. i used to have a bad habit of leaving the key in the bike in public.

I have done this, too. I finally got myself trained to use the key, then immediately put it in my pocket. There were so many times I had to pick up my key from the Police Dept here on campus...

Thats good to know. My friend told me that if the switch goes out your stuck so just leave it on. I hadn't heard about the triumphs having issues though.

I use the kill switch. Mainly to turn off other riders' bikes while at a light.

I use the killswitch cause they said to at the MSF..

It also helps that I'm about knowing where my keys are at all times so I never forget them (seriously it drives me insane when my girlfriend borrows my car and doesnt put the keys in their spot afterwards.. and when she doesnt put on the handbrake when parking.. same for my phone...)..

I might have minor OCD though.

I use the engine cut off switch, coast to a stop, then reach down and remove the key. I guess I'm just odd.

My clutch sensor is on the fritz so I have to be in neutral to start the bike. So anytime I am in a secure location the bike is in neutral when I leave it.
