if you're looking for forest fun you'll probably like the rc better with the more usable power band.

Or try looking at the tl1000 r they are nice and they don't lack on top end I had one for about a year great bikes and sound good and wheelie s like crazy IMO it's a better build multi purpose bike for almost nothing in price don't know much about rc51 other then it's a great looking bike Honda build other then the repsol 1000rr that's a great bike . But over all the zx10 is by far crazy fast so if your looking for wicked speed then stay away from the twins lol IMO .

Yes, IF they are comparable bikes. NOT when you are comparing 2 bikes with decidedly different characteristics. Buy one because it's rare, or looks cool, and you very well may find yourself hating the bike. Bad ergos, not a suitable power band, etc.

I4 v. twin is the first decision to be made. Which suits you better? As I said, I hate twins, and would never buy one. They arent suited to my style. I am an old 2 stoke racer that loves to rev the out of a 4.

And yes; I have ridden TLs, 999s, RSVs, and RC8s. Love the chassis/feel of them. Cant stand the power delivery.

I dont even like the new R1s. It acts too much like a twin for my tastes.

rc51

mine gets more then 135mph...not that i would know, but i can tell when im cruising at 90 down 59 at like 6 rpm in 5th gear lol

even though its a little heavy its still flickable and i love riding by cars and setting off alarms because of the sound

the only things i dont like about it is the heat under the seat and how thin the seat is, i hear an aftermarket seat remedies this though...but im getting used to it after 1k or so miles

but you'll enjoy either bike you get...happy hunting!

I would get the RC51 just because it is a twin. I can't stand I4s for riding street. If you want to go 130 mph you only barely get into third on a liter bike. Don't get to shift enough on the street which I think is part of the fun. They go 100mph in first gear and that is retarded for street riding. If you want to go the fastest then yeah maybe you should get one, but I think the twins are more fun on the street.

how much of this top end power you plan on using mister colin edwards.

+1 on that one. I had mine up to 150ish on the front straight at TWS (Texas World Speedway) and it was still going (I just wasn't looking long enough). But hey, he needs something really fast for the backroads.

I can totaly understand you on this one ! I just meant that an RC51 is differant in all aspecs and like a 2 stroke , its very differant than a 4 stroke. I'm sure if you get the right guy on a RC51 he could smoke a zx10 . ?

I have dripped green at one point, Oops, wrong thread....

I bleed lime green, I love the Kawi, if your worried about overall torque, get the 10 and go -1 on the front sprocket, you won't be disappointed.

The 10 is a monster, is scary fast, and just sexy.

The only reason I would get the RC-51 is because it is not that common and the exhaust sounds real good. Performance wise, the ZX-10R wins in every category.

The RC-51 will need some mods done to it:
1) Switch direction of one of the fans and install some fins on the radiators for better cooling
2) Bypass the soft rev limiter
3) Power Commander to clean up low end
4) Aftermarket seat

The RC-51 is a fun bike as long as you are not trying to out accelerate an I4 liter bike.

I don't think so either. rc's can wheelie but it is hard on them because of the weight. The stupid that bought my old rc had it a couple of weeks and then brought it back with blown out fork seals.

I too have a sick obsession with the vtwins, especially the RC51 sexy as sounding, and absolutely gorgeous. Like they said it would be more fun on the street too.
