buying rc51 or zx10r which one is better?

i am ready to buy another bike now and this time i want a big bike more for the forest roads rather than the parking lots. my last bike was a buell xb9r firebolt and that bike was awesome, which draws me closer to looking at the honda rc51 with the v-twin, the only downside to the v-twin is less top end power, i had a hard time keeping up with my friends in the forest cause it wouldnt go over 135mph, but i have also been looking at all year model zx10's, 02 and up r1's, 05 and up gsxr1000, dont really like the 1000rr tho. i even like the ducati 748 and the ducati's that look similar to the 748. anyways i want a bike for the forest and corners but also would like to do a good wheelie ocasionaly. which bike would most likely be best for both categoreys?

if it were to be between the 2, i would definitely say the zx-10r, but i'm a lil biased...lol. i wouldn't imagine the rc51 being a good wheelie bike...just monster torque from what i have heard...i personally wouldn't buy an r1, and you just can't go wrong with any newer style gixxer, they're all great bikes imo. you should also look at the 08+ cbr 1krr's...they're pretty sick as well

anyways...04-05 zx-10r FTW!!

i think he's just saying in reference to a newer style liter bike it's a v-twin, but i have heard from others that the rc51 does have a very good top end for the type of motor that it has...

It all depends upon your style. I hate twins. They are 2 totally different beasts.

Me too! The RC is heavy and dated, but I really enjoy riding mine. I find the sound rather intoxicating. After 83,000 miles it still frequently has me laughing like a kid under my helmet. It's not very comfortable at first, but you get used to it.

You have 83,000 miles on your RC? If so that just furthers my belief that Honda build quality is unmatched

+1 to rc51. beside the previously mentioned performance, its also a honda, which will run forever.

I love the RC's. It sounds like you're looking for a ZX though.

Yep. The only problem has been the stator...and the stator again because I elected to not change the reg/rectifier when I changed the stator. But it's an easy job to replace it.

Man that is of course a real tough problem. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Only 135mph on the backroads (I'm guessing in the straight parts) is a real issue. I mean it's truly the bike's fault for being so slow. Maybe you should look at a Busa. They're fast in the straight line.

Horrible reason to buy a bike.

04-05 Zx10s are beasts. I have never ridden another bike that can compare. Even the 09-10s.

totally normal reason to buy a bike, most of the bikes in their class are essentially on par with each other with each bike having more focus on a certain part like comfort, weight, style, hp over torque, etc..
