What is the minimum age to get a cycle license?
heard that it was 15, with a 250cc or smaller and have to take a course.
is it a msf course, drivers education course?

REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING
MINORS

Texas law requires that minors,
ages 15 through 17, pass a Basic
Motorcycle Operator Training
Course approved by the
Department of Public Safety before
applying for a motorcycle license.
Before taking the course, minors
must have successfully completed
the classroom phase of a driver
education course. A minor must
present the MSB-8 before testing

for a motorcycle license.
Minors over the age of 16 who
already have an unrestricted Class
A, B, or C driver license are eligible for a road test waiver. Minors
under the age of 16 can only be
licensed to ride a motorcycle with
no more than 250cc piston displacement. This restriction is indicated by the restriction code “I” on
the driver license. After the person
reaches the age of 16, the 250cc
restriction may be removed.

You can do homeschooled drivers ed for his class c permit and license. Its like $20 on dmv.gov website. He must have his permit to take MSF. Then with his class C permit and MSF complete he can take the motorcycle test at the DMV. Once he passes that (its easyer than the MSF written test) he will have his class CM permit with at 250cc restiction. If he wants his class M license at 15 he will have to take a driving test on his bike being followed by you driving in a car with someone from the DMV with you. You must supply your own bike for that drive, but it can not be larger than 250cc and it must pass inspection.

he MUST take the MSF BRC to get a license, he cannot get a license w/o taking the class. and the class exempts the riding portion of DPS.
