I know its a porker, even when it was brand new, compared to others (both in speed, and weight) but I have to say that was the finest 600 i had ever laid eyes on. Todays bikes just dont have "the look" anymore

matter of fact, i saw this color scheme just a few days ago, on what appeared to be a very well taken care of 92'. wonder if it was anyone on here?? sexy beast!

It took me a while to appreciate the look of the older bikes like this one. Don't know if I'd wanna own one but definitely would like to ride a well kept one some day.

Not sure if this helps since you seem to pretty much have your mind made up, but you might try looking into the "sport-touring" category if you'd like a newer bike with less mileage while retaining that ol' classic-sportbike feel.

What I've got now is an '06 Katana 750. Stock specs are 496 lbs dry weight, 92 or so hp and I think just over 50 ft-lbs torque. Verrry comfortable seat and riding position. The styling on the Kat's is unique; neither the angular, transformer / mechanical look of today's sportbike, nor the boxier look of elderyear's street beasts. The older Kats (pre 1998), esp the 1100's, are prized - and I've heard quite powerful.

It is carbeurated and on a heavy steel frame, I'm not sure about other newer "sport-touring" bikes like the ninja 650; I know the 'Zuki GSX500F and -650F are FI, albeit they look a lot like Gixxers.

Anyway good luck.

Harley has been gone all of 5 days. Itch is here again (that didn't take long)....gonna try sticking to my plan this time even if it means driving 900 miles to find the perfect "old" and low mileage bike. Also keeping my eye out for a clean 97-03 ZX7. If ya know of one....let a brother know.

Wife really wants new counters, but I can't help browsing bike ads.

never rode it....wasn't even going to attempt a backroad run on that thing...thing made me tired of fighting the wind after 15 minutes of my noggin' bouncin' around in the wind on my commutes. The main reason was to liquify some cash....but, I've been talking to a guy with an orange 03 ZX7 (I bet that does it for you) . I can manage to "hide" 3k without the wife knowing it is gone, but I'm afraid she'll see the new blanket covering the wheels in the garage.

Maybe you can appease the wife AND yourself. We got thinner granite counter tops from Home Depot for $1200 installed. They look exactly like they're supposed to, and we haven't noticed any weakness due to their thickness. Plus, the edge is the same as what you get with the thicker granite.

This is before I added the pulls to my homemade cabinet doors.

You need to check out this months(june) Cycle World magazine it has an awesome article with bike on superbikes with soul about all the classics. Might not want to check it out if you are not wanting to pull the trigger. lol
