So I have an itch....and it's hard to describe.

I REALLY like older bikes....I like the way the "original" full fairing generation of sportbikes look....like the early 90's, dual headlights, fairing stays that encompass the guages, upper triple, etc...

anyhow, poking around CL (and the Chicago area b/c my folks live there) I find this....http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/mcy/2015917110.html

So tempted to call my old man to have him go check it out this evening and then find a reason to meet up in Arkansas to save me half the drive.

I'm nuts, my wife would kill me, but I'm so tempted. It's hard to find these bikes in "clean" condition and maybe riding an old hunk of metal would keep me away from the track. I miss riding the street.

of course I'd strip the pink....now if it were purple.

no, that would leave me about not riding the track anymore....there is something about riding an older "clean" sportbike...hard to explain.

Guys who grew up learning and riding them appreciate the look and riding wheelies on public roads is much more work on one of these heavy old bikes rather just a simple twist of the wrist. They still would happen, just not as often.

The dirt is a thrill, probably more so than track riding....

BUT yeah, not the same, different kind of thrill...it's probably best to stay away from the streetbikes because draggin' knees is bunches of fun.

BTW, this is all AaronP's fault... he got me started by firing up the old GSXR last night after I had drank 2 tall boys.

I had an 89 Gsxr 1100 and just loved the way it looked, it was a heavy and needed major carb work, but still an awesome bike to ride

That 900RR is awesome 51k or not! I'm also a sucker for an old sportbike, and long as it has the original paint scheme.
