I've done BB from BW8 to Galveston Bay. 1st half on a 10 foot inflatable with a 3.5 HP motor, second half in my old 21 foot sailboat. It was a learning deal on the history of Houston and it's waterways I concocted with my cousin. Buffalo Bayou is really nice to float, especially after a good rain. If there has been tons of rain it can be really clean and clear. We jumped out near 610 once and went swimming in some small rapids with a sandy bottom.

If you want a new perspective on Houston, give this a try. I can only imagine with a guide how much more you'd learn and see.

Looks like enough interest.

I'm in Katy and my gf is in SE Houston, so Buffalo Bayou is alot closer to us. We'd have to rent a Kayak too. Here's another link off the one Byrdman originally posted:
http://www.bayoushuttle.com/tours/tours.htm

Houston Skyline Tour:
The Houston Skyline tour is one of the best ways to view downtown Houston. The tour is roughly 3 hours and stretches approximately 7.65 miles from Woodway Memorial Park to Sabine Street. You will navigate through the beautiful scenery and landscapes of Memorial Park and the Hogg Bird Sanctuary. The Buffalo Bayou will then open its arms to you as you enter into the Buffalo Bayou Park. Here you will view the Waugh Bridge Bat Colony, Eleanor Tinsley Park, and of course the highlight of the tour, the towering skyline of downtown Houston. Make sure you bring your camera as these are views few people get to see. You will then disembark at Sabine street, just east of the Sabine Street bridge. This tour is great for beginners and first time kayakers. Map: http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/ViewT...youshuttle.com

Navigators Tour:
The Navigators tour is your Intermediate Tour with a faster current. It is ok for beginners when the current is slow. The tour is roughly 2 hours and stretches approximately 6.18 miles from Briar Bend Park to Woodway Memorial Park. Briar Bend Park is one of the best boat launch sites on the Buffalo Bayou. Besides all the great scenery and landscapes to see, you will have many twists and turns on the Buffalo Bayou. There are also many fun challenging obstacles to test your ability to navigate your boat through. You will have several sets of rapids and get to visit the Chimney Rock Bat Colony. The tour will end at Woodway Memorial Park. Children are not allowed on this tour unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Map: http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/ViewT...youshuttle.com

The Adventures Tour:
The Adventures tour covers it all. Your day will begin with the Navigator's Tour (see description above). We will then take a break at Woodway Memorial Park to give you time to rest and re-energize. Pack yourself a great lunch as you will need the energy to move onto the next section of the tour which is the Houston Skyline Tour (see description above). At the end of the Houston Skyline tour we will then continue into downtown. We will travel under I-45, pass University of Houston Downtown, and visit Allen's Landing. Here you will learn about the founding of Houston and many other historical landmarks and information regarding Houston and the Buffalo Bayou. Children are not allowed on this tour unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Dates for October:
24th - 11:00 AM - Adventures Tour - 14 spots left
24th - 2:00 PM - Houston Skyline Tour - 14 spots left
30th - 11:00 AM - Navigator's Tour - 18 spots left
30th - 11:00 AM - Adventures Tour - 18 spots left
30th - 2:00 PM - Houston Skyline Tour - 18 spots left
31st - 11:00 AM - Navigator's Tour - 20 spots left
31st - 11:00 AM - Adventures Tour - 18 spots left
31st - 2:00 PM - Houston Skyline Tour - 18 spots left

Prices:
TOUR -- Tandem Kayak/Single Kayak (Per Person)
Houston Skyline Tour - $40/$60 pp
Navigator's Tour - $40/$60 pp
Adventures Tour - $65/$75 pp

Tour price includes kayak rental, life jacket, paddle, seat, shuttle service and tour guide.

my weekends are booked for the next 2 weeks!! I would like to go sooner than later though. Gixxer geezer says he'll be the guide so it will be cheaper if we just rented kayaks for a preplanned day. Someone throw a date out there...

On that website u posted Instead of doing a tour guide u can rent the kayaks from there as well and they will shuttle you around so you can leave your car in one place
