What is Dark Side?

I've been watching this forum a few days and got into a PM discussion with a guy from the cruising section. He mentioned that some people go to the dark side with touring bikes and cruisers.

What is the dark side?

Anything not mainstream. Majority of people on here are on SS bikes. Cruisers and sport touring bikes are not the norm. IE dark side. Also, he could have been saying you are ghey.

Typically when a touring or cruiser bike rider "goes to the dark side" it's one of 2 things:
They have bought a sportbike or they are running a car tire on the rear of their bike.

Patrick, 90% of the guys on this forum are not going to know what "the dark side" meant in your era

People still run car tires on the back of their Goldwings, so it doesn't matter the "era".
Besides, I'm proud I've made it to this age. I've almost doubled everyone else predictions of my life expectancy.

Thanks for clearing that up for me too. A car tire? Hmm.

Yeh. I know what you mean. Let's don't try something new. I remember my grand parents talking about being afraid of microwave ovens when they first came out. They wanted to stick to the regular ovens. They were afraid that the microwaves would be stuck in the food and would poison everyone. Granpa said microwaves made his hair fall out. We should never had gone to tubeless tires. You need the tubes to keep the air in the tires. Those tires will never seal around the rim. Pure foolishness. And computers? Just a fad. Don't ever let them use them in hospitals. They will get someone killed.

+1, usually means running a car tire on the back wheel of a cruiser.
