Track day tire damage?

So let me preface this by saying that I know this might be a stupid question, and I already know what the answer probably is deep down.

I was inspecting my tires today when I found that my rear has a cut in the tread. Its about 2 inches long, and very narrow like a gash from a razor. It doesn't look very deep - not as deep as the tread groove it passes through.
Its on the tread, close to the edge of the tire.

I signed up for a track day in a couple weeks. Would I be safe running this tire?

Its a Dunlop Q2 (160 on an sv650) and I just put it on about 500 miles ago so I really prefer not to spend money replacing it :/

You would have to point it out to them at tech. They just kinda glance at your tires to make sure they are in decent shape. I know tires are expensive but what value do you put on your health and bike? I'd buy another tire and save that for the streets.

I had a slit near the center on a Dunlop GPA that I noticed when I was about to do a TD. It was fairly new so I checked how deep it was. Since it was a newer tire(like yours) it still had a lot of rubber left. Ran it all day just fine. If yours IS deep, I'd change it. Another $150 on a tire may suck, but not as bad as the tire blowing out.

i honestly think its fine... it looks like its nowhere as deep as the tread grooves. If it were that deep, then I would worry

That's fine, you won't even notice that after your first session.

Pay attention to your tire pressures, pay attention to your tire temperature, and always check your tires after a session is completed for proper pressure too.

I wasn't super concerned but when I saw Fil's post just thought I'd throw those pics and see if that was what he was talking about. Thanks for the input...

This is the best pic I could get of it. Camera doesnt like to focus that close up on it even in macro mode.

Ride it, then if you crash you can blame it on the tire
