New Bike Help

Not really for myself, but a friend. He and I are going to take the bike course this fall sometime (because after I took it I waited to long to get the M put on the license and he just wants a bike). I've told him repeatedly that he needs to start out on a 250 or so but he wants a 600. What would be the best 600cc bike for a newbie rider to start out on? Any thoughts? At all?

...same here, started with a r1 n I'm fine. I think it comes down to the maturity of the rider.
