Hey, OP, you could always mess with the individual. Not that I would ever advocate such things.

Don't be so quick to judge. It's not like she was asking for my social to send me a check. Sometimes people, especially ones who didn't speak english as their first language, may write things in e-mail that don't sound 100% normal.

1) nobody writes that much in the first reply
2) nobody wants payment info that early
3) nobody deliberately skips straight to payment before asking questions
4) nobody ever mentions shipping anywhere in the world
5) nobody uses an "agent" to pick something up for them.
6) nobody says "AD site" or all those generic terms when its clearly in reply to a specific ad.

the entire response is about him justifying how he will pay and why he has to pay that way. normal human beings ask if it's ever been dropped and what the title condition is.

Yeah I understand that. To be fair it's a dirt bike so I don't think people ask if it's been dropped, as much anyway. Regardless, I'll leave the e-mail alone, I don't think this one screamed scam though like the Nigerian e-mails.

Exclamation Scam

They sent you a fake cashiers check for more than your selling price. Then ask you to refund the overage by personal check. Weeks later you find the cashiers check is fake, your refund check is gone, and your bike probably got crated out of the country.

Oh, and CL is pretty clear about this scam at the top of every listing.

I never said it was legit, I simply said it was a HEY LOOK AT ME IM SCAMMING YOU type of response either

You're the only that came into a thread titled, "is he trying to scam me?"... I'm quite confused on what you expected

look, part of your post is true

you say it wasn't obvious. It was obvious to everyone else who posted. It should have been obvious to you. If it's still not obvious, craigslist is not a safe place for you. I think it's cool that you're a trusting person and we really need people like that so I would hate to see you get ripped off because others have absolutely no morals. Sorry for giving you so much about it.

I'm not even going to bother with the transaction. I'll just wait for someone local to swing by.
