Looks like headers and exhaust are from an 08, wont be able to slip the mufflers on as is and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with swapping the headers out yet.

Yes new exhaust gaskets are a must but are you sure the 08 header will fit? I wouldnt see y but I would make sure...also I think your taking a step backwards installing something with a cat when you dont have one now....the cats are very restrictive unless you just want your bike to be quieter...either way the header install isnt hard at all...just remove your side fairings and unbolt the radiator (u dont have to but its easier to get in there if you unbolt the radiator)
I have a shop manual on a PDF file if you need one too

the headers from the 08 will fit. my buddys [that black one i showed you] is an 06 with full 08 engine swap. fits easily. like Byrdman said just remove side fairings and raditior [if you want it to be a bit easier to slide right in]

Heh s'alright, you can't tell from the mufflers themself its just the diameter of the link pipe.

On a side note I did discover the bike had a PC3 installed, however, it was not connected.

So I connected it, and the bike wouldn't start...

And without the bike running I couldnt run the Power Commander software, so I did a little research and apparently that means the boot loader or firmware was toast.

I managed to rig up a 9v battery with some alligator clips and give the PC3 the power it needed to connect to the laptop though and reinstalled the firmware and it took well. Tried calling around for the 9v adapter but apparently no one stocks em.

So after my jury rigged power supply I've got a no secondary butterflies map loaded onto the PC3 and she sounds much smoother. When I put her all back together tomorrow we'll see how she rides.

Hey! Tried it out, the mic works actually (you mentioned it might not?) I dont think its A2DP bluetooth though cause I can't get it to forward music from my droid via bluetooth will have to look into that, other than that its slick.

She's all back together and running again.

I must say, I love the way body panels and such attach to the bike with the rubber grommets fitted around the bolts. It gives a very confident tight fit for the body panels and plastic without the fear that you're destroying them everytime you snug them up after taking them off.

Alright took her out for a test drive and runs like a madman. The secondary butterflies out makes the bike want to launch itself off the bike tire viciously, it is really just a tremendous amount of power.

I loaded a Dynojet map for no secondaries however, I am still getting some significant deceleration popping. Anyone have a clue how to go about resolving this?

Still using "turn downs" instead of a real exhaust.

I've read about Ivan's TRE and that he makes one specifically for a ZX14 with secondary butterflies removed. But it is my understand this also kills your gear indicator whilst resolving the deceleration popping in the exhaust. I'm just curious if there is a better way to go about resolving it.

A good dynotune will cure it. U can get the ivans and a separate gipro gear indicator too
