Great deal on gear tonight

OK,

So yesterday I spent a few hours in the garage fabricating brackets for passenger rearsets on my wife's bike that would fit with her carbon high pipes. We figured that it was about time to take our oldest daughter for a ride. None of the bikes around our house have had pillion seats on them as long as I can remember. So, I put a biposto seat on the SS, fitted the rearsets and took her for a ride.

She loved it, and as such can't be borrowing Mom's gear all the time. I went looking and found some awesome deals today at Bikebandit.com on an Icon Merc jacket and an Airframe helmet- pink, but, well... I don't have to wear it.

$118 for the helmet (available in a LOT of sizes and colors) and $96 for the jacket - well under what I found anyone else selling them for. The Men's version of the same jacket was only $67. I found an online coupon code for an additional 10% off by entering "prog931".

Got the jacket and helmet shipped with a pair of gloves and 30$ worth of Bike Bandit certificates for $232 with all the discounts.

Kind of cool getting to take your kid on the back. I've had some mixed feelings about it, but after all of the things that I've done in my life I'd be a complete hypocrite to shelter the kids too much. The number one rule that we give our daughters about motorcycles is that they are never allowed on one unless it's me or Mom riding or she's on her own someday. Knuckleheads galore out there... and I'm not speaking of Harley engine lineage.

Next she'll be asking about all of the parachutes in the hall closet...

It's true that the Icon stuff isn't Arai and Dainese, but the helmet has both Snell and Dot certification and the jackets that I've seen so far looked to be on par with Teknic, Joe Rocket and most of the other second tier stuff. I'll post a review when it comes in.

Look at the pdf for 2007 test data, One of Icon's Domain helmet failed DOT tests.
