I only hit 8k on my bike this past year.
But I work half the week and have my kid the other half. I pretty much only ride about twice a week.

My speedo/odo stopped working at 16k (I bought it at 13k). I commute, so in any given week, I ride at least 300 miles. If I do a weekend trip it increases, but I don't have much time for riding on the weekends.

That said, I put at least 15k on my bike every year.

~25K/year.

I would go crazy if I was caging this commute. The zen like concentration reduces the perceived lapse in time.

Still, when my babe graduates I will not cry when we move closer to my work.

I find that I'm much more comfortable not knowing my speed. I don't really worry about how fast I'm riding - when in moderate traffic, I think I stay around 80, and when I'm the only one on the road I tend to actually slow down. It's a LOT easier riding through corners when you don't know your speed. If I thought I was riding too fast, I would slow down too much, but without the speedo I just take it comfortably (which is usually a little faster). There's something about KNOWING you're going faster than you think you should that makes you a little more apprehensive. At least that's the case for me.
