Power loss at 9 grand

2004 gixxer 6, past 9 grand she starts acting funny, it seems like its losing power, lack of fuel? I ran it with out the air filter, just in case it was lack of air,but nah it didnt help, anybody have any suggestions?

I had the same problem on my 04 750. There's a cold-start gear motor thing on the right side of the engine (brake lever side). You can see it in between the frame and tank. They're common to failing (had to wire-tie mine to open). Either the electric connection rusts out (like mine) or the plastic gear strips out and loses it's teeth. I'd make sure that's working as when mine failed there was no power in the upper RPMs. Po-Po5.0 had a friend fix mine for a few bucks. Took all of 10 minutes to re-install and get working.

The fuel filter is in the tank and is part of the fuel pump although it is available separately.
