i wonder how much of these guys actually claim the accident through their insurance. does it affect our costs if they don't?

MANY do. Look at it this way, if they finance, they have to get full coverage. You better believe they are going to claim it on insurance. And since so many of them do, insurance rates for sports bikes are ridiculous. Check it out, call up an insurance company and see what kind of quote you get for a litre bike versus something like a Goldwing.

Blame me for your high rates. I let a friend ride mine and he looped it. I claimed the out of it. Ins. paid my first and last payment on that bike.
