Yeah that stuff is lethal for motorcyclists. The only reason they have it at tracks is for the cars.. to prevent them sliding off into another part of the race track.

Apparently that's what this guy hit, which explains the seriousness of the accident.

RacerX is right though. 13 crashes is a TON for 4 hours of track day sessions especially in the morning when people are supposed to know that conditions in the AM arent usually that great... these event organizers have to be proactive. Fortunately, our track promoters around here, LSTD and LMS, would (and have in the past) put a clamp on this stuff with control riders, etc. Ridesmart...dunno, I have no experience with them.

As far as liability...no, the track org is in no way responsible in this case. However, just like Rainey's paralyzing crash in 1993, it usually takes something terrible to wake people up and improve safety issues...the org needs to address those issues.
