i like how the news report was trying to make the company seem at fault.. saying that its supposed to be safe.. andd controledd....

when u have humans.. piloting these machines.. anything can happen...

its a calculated risk

found this so far.

My wife and I were there that weekend - she rode the track. We didn't see the accident but it's not much of a surprise. There were *13* accidents *before* lunch on Saturday - a couple fairly serious (broken bones). A good storm came along on Sat. afternoon that shut the track down for about 90 mins but, once the lightning passed, folks went back out on the track in the rain.

Sunday was cloudy and warm but the track was in fine shape. We watched quite a few laps and didn't see any problems but the death isn't completely unexpected but very unfortunate.

It sucks, but I know STT does a better job than most at providing as safe an environment as can be expected.

I was very impressed with their emphasis on safety.

I don't understand why the investigation would be directed toward STT or BMP.

Well, if he had died on the track, it would be understandable and Standard Operating Procedure.

Keep in mind, an "investigation" doesn't necessarily mean anything criminal is suspected.

There were way too many crashes on Saturday though, suprisingly they all occured before lunch...

Yup *13* before lunch break. :(

yeah, LSTD has another Riders Meeting after a few crashes.

Thats something Macman does NOT like, too many crashes is a sure sign for everyone to slow your role and re-evaluate what everyone is doing out there on the track.

From the WERA BBS:
"Unfortunately we cannot comment very much on this because of privacy laws governing the release of medical information.

However, what I can I can say is that Mr. Gruber was Transported Sunday in the late AM and passed away Tuesday afternoon. The focus of the investigation is about events which transpired AFTER Mr. Gruber arrived at the hospital and not anything that happend at the track."

Some more heresay:

"I was there Sunday and I basically know the story of how the crash happened. One of my friends was right behind the incident. I know the other rider (I hate to use the term "who was involved") who may have spooked Mr. Gruber which caused him to run off track. We knew it was serious, but the ambulance didn't seem to be in a huge hurry to transport him to the hospital, and I later heard that his injuries, while fairly serious, didn't appear to be life threatening. Man, this is just terrible. I feel really bad for everyone in this, but especially the family of Shelly Gruber. I just heard about this...I just don't know what to say."

"He went off track rider's left at T4 after he and another rider tried to use the same pc of pavement..

After leaving the pavement he then went on the grass all the way to the armco glanced of it, fell down in the grass and tumbled a couple of times. His bike hit the armco hard enough to bend the OZ wheel on the front of the bike but it didn't look like a "yard sale" type crash."

is it Barber or STT's fault, NO...............BUT when there are 13 crashes within a short time fram and some serious one's, the riders need a talking to, to remind them that it's a trackday and most people have to go to work on monday, and to settle down a little bit.

Well for one, they really don't have any facts to report. Notice how they edit the guys phone call to jive with their story. Two, most people don't know that there's any such thing as a MC trackday. It's like reporting a bungee jumping or amusement park accident. Gotta blame somebody, right. They're not gonna blame the rider (RIP).

i'm so sick of attitudes like yours where if someone doesn't die it's thier fault but if someone does die the blame is immideately thiust off of them and on to someone. because by golly someones going to pay.
