rear tire jumping

when i was on MSR i was down shifting hard and i felt the rear tire jumping a couple of times... how do we prevent that ??!?!

i would say blip the throttle when downshifting, which i thought i did, but I wrecked... so maybe someone with real knowledge could contribute.....

try and match the rpm's of the lower gear so your tire does not hop

Brake more before you downshift. The purpose of downshifting should be to select the correct gear for maximum drive out of the corner, not to slow the bike. Also, you can blip the throttle or let the clutch out slower.

i still brake late but have bern practicing blipping the throttle more. it helped last track day.

i break the tire loose on purpose so i can go in hotter...

ur rear only jumps if u load the front forks down.. i.e. slam on the front brakes..

i just blip the rear and downshift the frst and let the slide. practiced it allll day yesterday.. works great

i prolly do it the wrong way anyways.. but i just use it to slow down quick and shift back to second so i still mid upper range in rpm and take the turn well

You probably need to initially slow your pace and work on throttle and clutch control. Then progress to working on your trail braking and start bringing up your pace. Adjusting your hand controls for track positioning makes a big difference as well. I would suggest working with one of your local track represenatives.

I disagree, You should use everything you have to slow the bike down and if you engine brake properly it will keep your motor under load at the correct RPMs and give you optimal power for drive out of the corners. Really though... I don't know much so you should work with your local track represenatives. Oh... and Have Fun! Usually the person having the most fun out there is getting the best gains. So relax, have fun and let it all come to you.
