Crotch Rocket vs Cruiser.

So this is just a discussion - I am sure i will get bashed by some who say "it depends on you" but I just wanted to get an opinion....

My back starts hurting if i go 25 - 30 min straight on a sport bike... and i am just 27... I have been told its cuz i dont have a strong enough stomach and i need to do situps....

But i was just wonder... for forest rides, and country side rides and just enjoying the road with my wife - should i just give up and get a cruiser...

All my life i have been fascinated by sport bikes... and i still want one... but I know i will enjoy the road/ride more with my wife on a cruiser than on a sports bike....

*sigh*

You want more than a 650 when riding 2up on a bike. That 650 is a slug when 2 up. I had 1 and hated it riding 2up...just sayin

I'm just like Indy, I find my 636 more comfortable than any cruiser I've ridden. Although I have had a LOT of time to get used to my bike, so that probably has a lot to do with it as well.

Honestly I had the same problem. Had a CBR900rr and my lower back would hurt. One was my lack of experience and body position. Due to the advice of my father (6'-4) I was told to try out the VFR. While it is not as comfortable as the cruiser, it is a happy medium. On long trips I have no problem sitting upright. My back never hurts. On long trips like I did this last weekend the knees start to ache around 300 miles, but nothing a break won't cure. I still want a cruiser in the stable, but this bike is serving both sport and distance rides for me just fine.

nice inputs... It should help... I am in the market - hence the dilemma.

and thanks Marty! lol

maybe its the way i sit on a sport bike thats the issue...

i have seen riders sitting with one hand on their thigh as they ride... it helps them sit up for a bit...

I just dont wanna give up on sports bike just yet... but... i guess its not my call anymore... its my back's.. lol

From my experience.

I started on an R1. I got tired of the body positioning riding every day so I got a Harley V-Rod. I sold the V-Rod to my dad within 3 months... I hated it. Now I've gone to a Monster for everyday riding and I love it. Caught in between

What did you not like about the V-rod? I sat on one this weekend with forward controls and I liked it. The M90 or M109r are the other cruisers I like.

:-) just checking in my own lil way.

I think it's as much a matter of posture, my intruder was a bit more comfortable distance wise, but thats as much the seat and leg position.

Apparently there are only two possible types of motorcycles to ride?
