Before taking the MSF class, I was looking at the budget 650s. After the MSF I realized I needed to get fully comfortable with a small bike before moving up to a midsized bike. Also, I'm approaching the first bike as a first bike. Anything more than $2500 is too much and financing is out of the question. After all, why lay out any more than I safely need to start learning. When I'm ready the object of my motorcycle will still be there (currently a street triple r), and I'll be able to handle it, both on the road and in my wallet.

Well the 250 at motorcycles unlimited was snatched out from under my nose. I'm looking at another at the motorcycle exchange. Are they pretty willing to bargain? They are listing above blue book by a couple of hundred.

Welcome to Motohouston. 250 is a great starter bike for anyone. Something to be learned about bikes is its not the bike its the rider then it comes to its not the rider its the people around you. Get something you willl be comfortable on dont let people steer you in the wrong direction about jumping right to a 600+ its not worth it if your not ready. there is nothing wrong with taking it slow.

You would have to go a long way to beat Motorcycle Unlimited. I've bought 2 bikes from them and have no regrets. Good and honest people there.

Bought a red ninja 250 from wild west honda today. Pricier than craigslist but it looked good and ran well. It should arrive in an hour or so!

Took it for its inaugural spin today, and had a blast (I figured seat time between 3 and 5 on friday would lead to an inauspicious start)! I'm going to set my alarm clock extra early tomorrow to take advantage of this weather.
