New to MH

A couple of weeks ago I realized I needed to ride motorcycles. As of today I have my M license, should have my gear in a day or two, and I'm trolling craigslist for used beginner bikes. Hopefully I'll be riding in a few weeks!

, was going to tell you to hit up motorcyclesuperstore.com, they have gear for CHEAP this week.. (jackets for <100 and helmets <100 which are normally 150++), but you already got some. I see some

On the side note, welcome!

And here are a couple.. hope they still have it. http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/1951528833.html http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/1964902210.html

I went by motorcycles unlimited for my gear. I'm looking hard at the ninja 250 they have, because I'm a little daunted by the process of checking out the cycles on craigslist.

If you need any help looking for motorcycles, any of us are more than willing to help you check it out before buying. Patrick even offers a free inspection, granted you have to get the buyer to bring it to him.(SORRY PATRICK!) Buying their 250 is also a good idea though, just throwing some options out there.

Thanks for the welcome! I was also looking at a ninja 500 at stubbs 59, but it is a 2004 with 0 miles on it. I'm thinking that it will take a bit of work even if it was stored well, so I am leery.

I wouldnt recommend a 250 to start, id just jump to a 600. just start out very slow, parking lots, then neighborhood, then roads around the house, then whevere from there. EVERY one of my friends that got a 250 as a starter regreted it completley just because they are very easy to get used to riding on and they were done with it in about amonth and went to sell it and they hadnt even received their title for the bike yet. just my .02 but alot of experienced ppl on MH will recommend the 250, and they have ALOT of experience. more then me. I started on a 600rr for my first bike.

I started on a 600 myself but the difference with me is i'm a little guy so its taken me a long time to get used to throwing the bike around, i'm sure i would have learned that part alot quicker had i started on a 250. You will grow out of the 250 quickly but its alot more forgiving if you fugg up.

O' and any questions about it just ask.. I rode the bike back and forth to work about 700 miles worth.. it is very forgiving unlike my 1000..
