Soo...Does anyone have an old SRAD out there

I was thinking about picking one up with a blown motor and building a sleeper streetbike. Anyone have one? How do those old bikes handle? If anyone has a roller with a blown motor let me know...

Anyway would they make a comfortable streetbike compared to the newer bikes? hows the seating position on them?

The reach to the bars isn't all that comfortable but the padding in the seat is significantly better than modern bikes. I don't know how much of a sleeper you're going to be able to make, but it'll make a nice little toy.

I prefer the first few generations of SRAD, compared to todays gixxers looks.

I'm telling you that unless you're very skilled with fabrication, you're probably only going to get a 01-03 gsxr 1k motor in there, that an '07 suspension isn't significantly better than revalved stock stuff, and that the radial calipers attached to the '07 suspension will be a dead give away that you've thrown parts at the bike.

Who says im not skilled at fabrication? and its been done before, just gotta grind the stock top srad motormounts off the frame and make some custom motormounts to bolt the motor up, and do some grinding on the cases. and still undecided on using the 07 suspension stuff yet, the donor bike that im thinking about picking up may have tweaked forks so ill prob be using stock srad stuff.

This is the post that motivated me to do this:

Whatever floats your boat man, Its my money and time and ill build what i want, it might not be practical in your eyes but it will be worth it to me.

98 sad was one of my first bikes I liked it alot except for the subframe it sits straight and has no angle to it but other than that it is a good bike and easy to maintain/work on
