I agree. Some of them probably do think that way. That's why it's good to get your MSO in writing so that you'll be doing the job that you want to do and that will help you start a career when you get out.

Personally, I like material possesions too much. I'd work 100 hrs a week if they'd let me so I could buy more.

Make sure that your promises are in writing.

How are you going in as E3? They might just be bullshitting you to sign up. I did the PT test Robert was talking about and got E-2

48 college hours bumps me up

Good point, your the one that has everything to gain from it.
And the most to lose.

But it certainly won't be a waste of time.

again my 02 from someone that has been there.
seems to be a few people in this thread giving u advise about military service that has never been in. Take THAT for what's it's worth.
When i went in it was a 6 year enlistment. 4 active and 2 inactive, if u agree to all 6 active then u were bumped a rank after boot camp.
In the airforce, after your bootcamp and then tech school it is pretty much similar to a real job.
MOSTLY 8 hour days and your free time is yours.
Now that was peacetime. Will depend on what kinda MOS u go into.
about anything u want to learn on the outside is covered in the military.
Air traffic controller, Spy , AC work, radar, whatever. to become an Officer I THINK u have to have a certain amount of college AND get your local politition to write u a letter.
all my school was in san antonio, while in my Tech school my weekends were free, we rented a car and hauled , galveston, austin, etc. I spent 2 years in ft worth at carswell and my other 2 years in southern germany. bout 60 clicks from the swiss border.
6 on 3 off. Off days we went skiing all over germany, switzerlad and austria.
my off days were mine.
again differant service and jobs will dictate that.
I worked straight days in germany so worked day cop job and nights bartended in the enlisted members club. made MORE than enough money i needed being single and all.

It is all about what u want to do.
If u go into basic with a billy badass attitude, they will ENLIGHTEN you on how badass u are. Amazing thing is they will do it without even touching u. You will learn humility real quick.
My best advise to u if u DO go in is just Shut the up and LISTEN to what they tell u to do. U want to be anonamous (sp) You want to be unknown.
Again a better bet in my opinion would be to take advise from someone who has been there.

About the tombstone comment, wonder how many military members right now are currently in harms way?
very small amount. and again u can just about guess what MOS they are in.
again above statement is just my 02
Michael

In wars nowadays there no such thing as a front line anymore. doesn't matter where you are on the battle field. these f**kin rag heads are more likely to kill our families at home than us sendin rounds down range at them.
