there's a message board up at the fruit loop, where people put up bikes for sale.

these tend to be high end bikes though.

I'd say any Bike Barn, but stay away from WalMart, Academy, or Sports Authority unless you want a cheap bike...and with bikes you get what you pay for. REI and Sun & Ski aren't bad, but I'd go to a bike shop and look at Specialized, Trek, and Raleigh. All three of those make great mid level bikes.

I'm into mtn. biking, so I don't know too much about road bikes, but I do know that Trek makes Lance' bikes, so they gotta be good.

I ride my bicycle almost everyday rain or shine. My experience has been if your looking for something to put around the neighborhood with goto wal-mart or look for something online. However, if you plan on riding it more than 50 miles I suggest three things: 1) go to a real bike a shop 2) ride every bike you can find to get an idea of how the different brands fit and 3) look for last years or older model.

Fit up is key and although a bike is a bike and they all look the same each manufacturer has a different geometry. Specialized allez range bikes have shorter top tubes giving a more cramped feeling, cannondale are rough because they are so rigid, colnago are over priced because they're italian but they are good racing bikes. The only way you figure out what you like is by riding. Don't be bashful about it either, make em let you ride the bikes. Bike Lane off 1960 & 45 will let you loose on pretty much whatever they have in stock. Talk with Ken (the owner). I bought my Cannondale IronMan 2000 w/ full ultegra and ksyrium wheels for $1800 which is a steal compared to list price of $2600 all because it was last years model. It's alot cooler to save $800 bucks than to have this years model.

After you've done some test riding look at the craiglist or as Racer X suggested the fruitloop down at Memorial Park. I saw a nice cannondale road bike on craiglist last week for $600. Was going to buy cause I want to race crits but I was too late. Best of luck.
