Is that pilot powers road? I heard those last pretty well on mileage.

I'm rockin Pilot Powers right now. Good tire IMO. I used to rock Metzler M1's on my R6, another good tire IMO. Unless you're riding the outta that bike on the street, the Pilot Roads will work excellent, and provide longer tread life.

i wouldn't go that low. there are some cheap tires out there i wouldn't recommend. but the roads have more then enough grip, and will last. and are reasonably priced.

btw, not a dunlop fan whatsoever.

What do you have on your ride and why do you prefer them. I was looking at DR208's but still have my options open. I will probably replace both at the same time.

Share your experiences with tires and personal preferences.

Maybe this thread will help... They have been on the track... Joey doesn't like them but taylor does... They ride on the streets and on the track... Hope it helps.. :icon_bigg

Tire Preference

Tire Preference

JRock-I've been using the M3's since March 4 2006, 3 trackdays, 2 TWS (Texas World Speedway) and 1 MSRH and a couple of hundred miles on the road, total of 862mi..

I've used Dunlop 208's, Pilot Power, Power Race, Sportec M1's on my R6 and find the M3's to be my favorite thus far, due to a very positive feel between the road and what the bike is doing under me. I've noticed that the tire does not "booger-up" as much as the M1's when I used them at the track.

The pictures are from TWS (Texas World Speedway) Trackday held 07/17/06 running B-group, consistent 2:10's (AIM lap timer), with an approx. track surface temp of 120 deg., maybe more (I checked the parking area in front of the paddock area with my temp gun 120deg.). I attached them so you can see the wear they have in relation to what kind of use they have been subjected to.

I just wanted to share my experience with these tires and I hope I was able to help. Have a great day.

When it comes to the 4 major mfrs, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Metzler and Michelin, I don't beleive there is a bad tire out there.
All of the tires have certain characteristics, and that's where personal preferance comes in.
When you're ready to get new ones, give me a call and we can dicuss how you ride, what bike you're on and what factors are most important to you; mileage, wet weather, maximum grip etc., and I can help advise what tires you might like the best.

I really like my Dunlop Qualifiers (non-OEM style). Although they don't last as long as Pilot Powers and are probably only a good choice if you're going to do really hard street riding or trackdays.

I may be biased but Patrick has given me the best advice on all my bikes on or off the track. Stop by his shop and ask away. I personally have road Dunlop D207,208 and 218
Michelin Pilot Powers
Bridgestone BT012, BT002

Powers were my favorite street tires at this point but I hear great things about the BT014. BT002 at the trakc all the way for me at this point.
