Harley Rider Down

Curious if anyone has heard anything about this. A co-worker's aunt & uncle were riding harleys behind a school bus yesterday at about 3:30pm. She looks over and says she's gonna pass the bus because it keeps stopping. Somehow she is struck and then run over by the bus, killing her. That's all we know. Anyone see an article/ news cast on this? They live in Baytown so we're assuming they were somewhere around there. I can't figure out how you would get hit by a slow bus that's continuously stopping. Maybe it was turning??

RIP

Quote:
Deputies said Santikos and her husband were riding motorcycles northbound on Thompson Road when they stopped behind a bus from Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District that had stopped before driving over a railroad crossing near N. Battlebell.

The bus's hazard lights were on and the driver opened the door to look at the railroad tracks to make sure no trains were coming toward the bus.

Santikos attempted to pass the stopped bus on the left, but the bus began turning left onto to N. Battlebell when it collided with her.

Santikos fell from her motorcycle and landed under the bus. The bus's rear tires rolled over her.
RIP

And I wonder if there were any kids on the bus. That would be a pretty up thing for kids to witness. I am sure it was not a pretty sight.

Or have the nack of pointing out the obvious.. But I think this lesson is being taught one ride too late.

I'm just sorry she passed, regardless of right or wrong doing or how long she's been doing it. Pray for your co-worker and their family in this time of need.

A school bus stopping at train tracks is not the same as stopping to let kids on/off. Passing is most definitely allowed, common, and the norm in this situation. Assuming she had her own lane to pass in...

Horrible situation none the less... RIP
