I didn't get a ticket on the HOV this morning!

But I did get stopped.

As soon as I entered the HOV at Sorters I started speeding up to cruising speed, only to see the cops sitting on the shoulder ahead. Meaner was behind me, but I could tell they were watching, so I didn't pat my helmet - figured she had seen them by now. When I got up there (having already slowed WAY down, because I knew I was speeding), he waved for me to pull over.

Cop told me I was going 68 (Woo-hoo! slowing down DOES work) in a 45 (speed limit on the HOV is 65). I was a little shocked that the speed limit was still 45 by then, but he said it was until I hit 1960, so I said, "Okay." I got off the bike and he asked for my license. It was in my school bag, so I had to take off my gloves and helmet to get to it.

While I was disrobing he asked about my ticket history. I told him I haven't had a ticket in 16 years this Nov. So, he told me to put my helmet back on and get out of there.

Oh, yeah- and he told me to slow down.

It's because the speed limit is 65 and he knows it. It's that pesky entrance that's 45.

If you hadn't taken off your helmet you would have gotten a ticket. Told you it wasn't a myth.

but, my hair is long and in braids, plus he could see my face when I raised the shield. AND my new helmet is slightly girlie, but not pink.

He DID ask questions about my bike, though. There are definitely positive aspects to its being custom.

Unfortunately I didn't see him until after he had clocked me. Luckily I saw him in time to NOT gun it.

It's only the second time in my LIFE that I've been pulled over and not ticketed.

Yep, they were still there when I rolled through this morning. I think the limit is 45 for more than just the ramp and I don't understand it. It's stupid to have the limit 45 there but 65 on the main lanes where people cross all lanes at once to exit or when they enter.

That is THE BEST stretch of the HOV, too - there are two full lanes and very little traffic being that it's the beginning (or the end).

So either he thought you were a cute, short chick or an underaged, prepubescent boy. Either way that puts you in the prime "non ticketable" range of attractiveness for the po-po.

I met my first MAPD today. I was haulin on 45 hov till I came up on a car and slowed down. She moved over and waved me on and I waved back and slowly passed and went about my commute. He saw the whole thing and pulled me over right at the exit for 59 right in the middle of the road and when I started moving the bike to the side he told me to stay put. He was maaad, lots of yelling and cussing about "i don't care if she let you pass don't do that ! And I saw you hauling before that, you're lucky you slowed down, now get outta here". Even though I was thinking "no, you're lucky I slowed down" I just said yes sir and went on to work, so happy I didn't get a ticket I didn't mind being bitched at haha
