Very interesting post. I have considered the chl for a while now. I wont say that I have a handgun nor will I say that I carry but you know what my angel says to me?
Your better off being caught with it than without it.
I guess its time to to do it and get the chl so I wont have to worry about that 1st part.

Let me know next time you go. I go there all the time. It is about 5 miles from me. I am always game for shooting some rounds. Besides that, I need to go sight in my Walther P22.

Is that the one by FM 2351? I'm only minutes from there, but stopped going since he raised prices. I've since got me a membership at PSC and sometimes I go to Marksman in South Houston. Facility there is kepted up pretty well.

You need to get it regardless if you want to carry all the time or not. We need to show the goverment how we feel about our rights. It is a great investment.

No, I think that he is talking about the Marksman one in South Houston off of HWY 3 and Nebraska St.

Edit, Sportsman is on 2351 and Marksman is on Hwy 3 I always get those confused.

Finally did my CHL last weekend, also bought a very clean used Kimber Ultra Carry .45 for SuzAnne.
Nice weapon, small, accurate and has very controllable recoil.
After a few more sessions of her getting used to it, she'll be getting her CHL as well.

Congrats! I love 1911s if you can't already tell. :icon_bigg
You guys should come out and do some tactical shooting with us one of these days. It beats shooting at a stationary booth. You get to move around "tactically" and you also get to shoot on the move. Seeing some of the Pros in our group shoot is a riot! Every forth Tuesday of each month is shotgun night as well. I just get to use my Benelli tonight and it was tons of fun.

Here is a link if you guys are interested. The more the merrier.

And if you are in the SE area, you can come and check out IDPA at the PSC range. That's every 4th Sat morning.

Some shops that offer classes will also do gun rentals for your CHL. I recommend getting your classes over with and mail in your application because it can take up to 3 months for DPS to process. And when doing the test, make sure you qualify with a semi-auto instead of a revolver because qualifying with revolver will only allow you to carry a revolver while qualifying with a semi-auto will let you carry both.

I really need to take that class. My ruger 9 is a little big to conceal but I guess I can keep it in the truck.

Where there is a will, there is a way. It can't be any worst than a 5" 1911 that I conceal almost on a daily basis. That is unless your Ruger is a size of a Desert Eagle.
