Buying a bike that's been sitting for several months

With a fuel injected bike that's been sitting for 6 months, what are the areas that will form varnish?

Odds are in your favor if you drain the take and fire it up it will run pretty good, any "varnish" in the injectors will most likely be cleaned just from fresh fuel with all the additives that are in it. I've ran many bikes that have sat for over a year and as long as they are fuel injected had excellent results. Dump old gas fill it full and most likely you won't have any problems.

Fuel lines, rails, injectors. If its just 6 months I wouldn't worry about it terribly. Just make sure to run good quality gas (high detergent content) for the first few tanks.

I'd add a little seafoam to that tank, but that is just me. I do that a couple times a year anyways whether it sits or not.

6 months isn't that long for an injected bike, should only need a new tank of gas.

+1 on the seafoam

I bought an f4i that was parked for almost 3 years. Checked the gas, changed the oil, put new battery and it started on the first try.

Got a little more to the story. Actually sitting for a year, and has rust in tank. Guess I'll have to do some research on KREEM and POR 15.

My track RR sat in a back yard from 04 til last year in McAllen through hurricanes and the elements. Tank was full of water. Got a new tank and pump, changed oil, new battery, put gas in it and started on the 1st try.

Well, apparently, I'm second in line. Someone else looked at it today and said he will get back with seller in AM. If not him, then me. Just wish the bike was closer else I'd go get it tonight.
