Motorcycle Rider Falls Off Freeway, Dies

HOUSTON - After traveling at a high rate of speed, investigators say a motorcycle rider plummeted to his death from the Gulf Freeway onto a frontage road below.

The motorcycle accident took place early Monday morning on the southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway near Ledge Street.

Investigators determined the motorcycle rider was traveling almost 90 mph and was weaving the motorcycle back and forth, possibly as a stunt.

The motorcycle apparently hit something and caused the rider to lose control. After the motorcycle was laid down, the rider slid off the freeway and onto the frontage road where his body was found later.

ok.... how do you slide off a freeway and plunge to your death?

Do we have some over passes that are using the old wood and metal guard rails instead of the concrete barricades?

Rip the the rider, but kinda wonder if the reporters been riding w/o a helmet too.

Good comment on Chron.com

You hike the unmarked Iran-Iraq border and get nabbed by Iran (legally or illegally) - no sympathy. You ride motorcycles without a helmet and maneuver them dangerously because it's "fun" - no sympathy. Though none of these people deserved what they got, they sure got what they were asking for!

What is so sad is so many of these wrecks are blatantly the riders fault and 110% avoidable.

Live by the sword.....
