For whatever it's worth, I just came back from a night ride to House of Pies for dinner (Chili Cheese Omlette w/ Hot Chocolate! ) Afterwards, I went to downtown and then took I-10 and exited I-45 just as I did during the close call. When on the exit ramp, I took it very slowly (40mph~) with high beams on so I could see if anything stood out. The only thing that I saw were the two black marks where I bounced my knee puck against the shoulder barrier. If anyone happens to take that exit, you will see the 2 black marks on the barrier...so apparently I bounced off the shoulder barrier twice

Glad you didnt go off the over pass......Ever since Chadmod passed I seriously chill out everytime I ride on an over pass......NO way im going off 1 of those things......Theres alot of good info in this thread but I think alot of times the way we learn is through oh moments....You are truely lucky you made it out of that situation the way you did.....I have just recently completed my first track day earlier this sept. and it really did help.....it even rained and I got to practice riding on a wet track(very interesting btw)....I had been putting it off for almost a year and I really couldnt afford it but I stashed some money away and did it anyways. I keep trying to get my close friends to do one but it seems that time and day are an issue. You would be surprised what you pick up, I know I was....Plus it seemed like everyone there wants to help you. SOrry for ranting but everytime I see something that involves an over pass, it brings back memories.

Pretty much if the road leaves the ground period in anyways shape or form.. I am the most careful person around.

And RIP chadmod, ever since that went down I think I have been more careful on roads period. and especially overpasses, both on my bike now and my car then.

Other thing that stands out is you were looking at the wall, and the shoulder, and what might have been over the edge.

Target fixation is a , "look where you want to go".. because you WILL go where you look.

The average corner on the street can "usually" be safely entered at twice the posted yellow warning speed or the posted limit if no warning sign... on a bike anyhow. So unless you were doing 90-100 coming in, you weren't in too hot.
