picked up my first cruiser

2011 HD Electraglide Police. Previous to this I had on 06 Kawi 636 until it was the victim of my divorce. Whereas my previous bike cost me money, this one will make me money. Been practicing cone patterns for the last few weeks for my upcoming motor course luckily i haven't dropped it yet, but I'm sure I will do plenty of that in the class.

Thought the bikes could be no morethan 2 years old? You would have to get a new one in 2013 right?

For hpd i think it five years if you're actually in solos. If you're just running escorts i don't think they have a limit. But most of the solo guys will trade them in around 50 - 60k which will come in about 2 or 2 1/2 years if you ride full time.

Thats the plan. most depts in the houston area all black or blk / white. Not really much of a paint scheme. Departmental insignia on the tank is usually just a magnet.

Why this over an ST1300? From the 6 cops I talked to, they said they switched to the Honda because it was way more comfortable and had more power.

I looked at the st1300's and and rode one through a few cone patterns as well. There were two reasons I didn't purchase one. First is durability, the engine is great. But you have to realize that I have to go through a 40 hr class and then it will be ridden over a hundred miles every day in an urban environment. Only damage was to the crash bars and it was barely visible unless you knew where to look. I dropped my sgt's electraglide about 30 times the weekend that I had it. The st1300 would have made it as well but with a lot more damage to fix. Also, driving on shoulders kicks up all kinds of bolts, screws, tire retreads and whatever else under your bike. Some of the honda owners didn't like replacing bodywork, radiators and oil pans.
The second reason is that the honda sounded like a moped. But seriously, only reason I picked it is because I knew I would be dropping it a lot.
